You guys have more than likely seen a couple of times a wierd looking SQL error about a table being full. To my knowledge this has happened twice, with the same error.
Stopping and starting the mySQL engine seems to clear the error, but I'm going to try and look into it in a bit more detail, possibly upgrade the SQL engine and see if that is a more permanent solution.
Meantime, if you should see it happening, email me to let me know on
tromador at tromador dot com
and I'll clear it.

Unless anyone knows who gigablast.com is or recognizes the ip address
66.154.102.44, I shall be banning it, seeing as 95% of all the sessions in our struggling session table are created from that IP.
Apparently this is a common error with phpBB boards and isn't caused by any particular factor. From the following page:
http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=42
"Now, why does this happen in the first place?? 'I'm innocent!', I hear you say, 'I haven't added any MODs or anything, I just woke up one day to see that error message!'. Well, you are innocent. This error is nothing to do with you (or any of your users) breaking the fora, don't worry."
The above IP looks like it's potentially session flooding us and that's the problem. I have any number of fixes I can put into place, however the enormous number of sessions from that IP are suspicious, so unless it's one of you guys, I want to ban it regardless.

I'd ban it, if it's someone who shouldn't be banned, they'll soon let you know. Just put a custom error doc up so when they're banned they don't get a generic page but a statement saying "hey you're banned, email for details" or something. :)

Looks like it's a "broken" search engine spider. I'll just ban it. Can't be bothered making a nice error page cos someone is too lazy to program their spider properly.

Damn bots!
I've been hit by them too. There's no one monitoring those accounts. They were created by a program so yes - delete them, ban them, lock them out or something.
THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!
My friend's forum was hit too and so was mine. What ever is doing it, is most likely affecting most of the php boards
BTW: I recognize inezjjohaansen. It was on my forum too.
IT'S A BOT! NUKE THAT BASTARD GOOD!

I had hoped upgrading to mySQL version 5 would cure this problem, but I logged on to find a table full today.
I'll look into one of the other methods for curing it.
Meantime, continue to drop me an email if you find the error and I'll reset it as soon as I get the message.

a new version of phpBB was released this week. not sure if it addresses these issues but it's worth upgrading just the same.

Board is now upgraded to the latest version. We'll see if that solves the problem.

Having just watched googlebot take the board down, I'll apply one of the mods.
*sigh*
