Hmm.. how about Jarl. It is roughly equivalent to Earl (having a similar etymology as you might guess) but is literally translated in Anglo-Saxon or old Norse as [i:ad726a7480]Chieftan[/i:ad726a7480].
He might be surrounded by his elite warriors, the huscarls. :)
