Well...there's certainly no shortage of tear jerkers out there. Magnificent songs from every artist from Coldplay to Clapton. But I have to say...the song that ALWAYS gets me is Willie Nelson's "Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain".

It's stripped down. Just Willie's nasal, soft voice accompanied primarily by a single acoustic guitar and a hint of accordian. It's sounds as though it's being sung beside the crackle of a campfire, which of course is about as lonesome as it gets.

It's about a lost love, passing away and the singer simply waiting out his remaining days before he gets to see her again in heaven. Simply gorgeous.

Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain - Willie Nelson

In the twilight glow I see her,
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain.
When we kissed goodbye and parted,
I knew we'd never meet again.

Love is like a dying ember,
And only memories remain.
And through the ages I'll remember,
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain.

Someday when we meet up yonder,
We'll stroll hand in hand again.
In the land that knows no parting,
Blue eyes cryin' in the rain.

No one does it like the red haired stranger. Check it out for yourself...

But uses a language which included the word 'dross' before his ancestors even knew the Americas existed.

Then again dross comes from old English, which is the germanic/celtic side of the language, rather than the romantic side (eg latin) and so even being Scottish, applies equally to your good self.

Which part of "so even being Scottish" did you not bother to read.

If you want to start being abusive, how about "Learn to read the complete post, you ignorant fuck and engage brain before starting to headbutt the keyboard."

:)

Learn to read:

I argue that because Old English shares some of the same root language as Scottish (Gaelic) you should, despite being not English, understand the word.

Bolding a few words and ignoring the rest of the sentence to deliberately twist the content and put words in my mouth is offensive.

So I'll do the next one for you.

There you go, I chose a few random words and made this post say something completely different too.

Sorry, being set up with straw man arguments really pisses me off for some reason.
