Gudrun watched the shop carefully she knew this was important why she did not know. Her last job it had been obvious why The Pope needed to die he was going to start the inquisition back up. Granted not publicly but in privet there would have been a whole new wave of hunters on the streets and everywhere. The many years of cooperation between the Church and the Elders would have come to an end, and all out war would have erupted around the world. So a contract was made and she had been assigned. The newer rites and rituals had proven most effective. Sure he had lingered on for a while but he was so incapacitated that when he did die it seemed natural. The new Pope was more amicable to cooperation between the Kine and the Kindred so with luck the peace would last a while longer. Yet still this assignment baffled her, it was not that she felt it was beneath her. It was just well hell she did not know. She was honored that Cain had chosen her and that The Dark Uncle had let her come. They were both well respected at Almut and Cain’s quick rise threw the ranks while not unheard of was still a remarkable feat. Although much of it could be attributed to his Sire The Dark Uncle. It was rumored that during Cains initial 7 years Walker had taken much of Cains training into his own hands. Molding him to be as accomplished a killer as himself. She did not have that however. The individual that had recruited her had chosen her last and out of spite. Once she had arrived at Almut it was soon apparent to her that she was ill suited for the things going on around her. She was an average woman and no disrupt which could benefit her however many of the things she saw the others doing she could not do. Then she saw the price for failure. One of the Rafiq had failed to complete a task of some importance. His blood was drained till he was barley conscious and then chained to a balcony to await sunrise. Gudrun thought to herself if they would do this to one that had completed the training then if she failed she would be lucky to be fed to the dogs.
Cain watched her in the distance he knew she was thinking about her past he could see it in her body positioning. He also knew that if anything happened she would instantly spring into action she always did and had always come out on top. Perhaps that is why they had passed her over so many times because she dwelled on the past and it was evident to any who knew how to see it. He would have to discuss that with her she could be so much more if she could let it go and move forward yet still be mind full of past mistakes …………………….[/i:68c3c01d7f]
