July 18 was my B-day.
I'm growing up.

today is party day for me. gonna have over 100 ppl over.
might turn in to an big yearly thing if this goes ok.
got 3 bartender friends whipping up drinks.
I have guitars by the fire
a competition BBQer making the meat.(he lives next door so the smell is already wafting over.
got my neighbor playing a movie on the side of his house later at night.
of course you all are welcome. ive known you guys longer that some of the people coming out.

OOHH and I walked to the bar a couple of weeks ago I passed by the American Legion hall.
it seems that there is a rather large troupe of Vampires playing their 2 nights a month. half a block from my place.
of course its Live Action and I don't get into that.
I prefer my RP to be in a house with no one watching.

it went very well. lots of good times, no naked drag racing like I had about 5 yrs ago. but somethings are just to spontaneous. I did have a couple of friends that I hadn't seen since high school show up. but they brought their wives who brow beat them into not having any fun.

haha Gabe is getting old too.

now I'm planning for Sturgis baby.
getting a sitter for my youngest, then leaving the middle child here at the house for a week to 10 days while we go to SD.

come to think of it, 5 of his friends' parents are going with us. so all of the 14-19 yr old kids will be parentless for awhile. that's probably not too smart.

So? Did you get locked in the pokey? Haha

Uh lets see...updates. Updates.

One kid is 6, the other is nearly a year and a half. We moved into a new house. Wife travels a lot so I'm effectively Mr. Mom a lot of the time. I still work from home.

Uh that's it. Miss you guys!

haven't gone yet to Sturgis yet. its in early August 2018. so i have a few days yet to plan.

I put in for a supervisor position at work. not sure i want it. i basicly have no boss right now and can work on what i want when i want right now. id hate to go back into the light of office politics.

Hows the new house Gabe? Big yard, lots of grass to mow....?god i hate mowing. do you have room for a garden?
im on my way into the back yard now to get my garden cleaned up from the winter.

Me and Misty bought one recently too, but its a rental. small but we had it rented out one month after we got it.

Yeah in my field of work there's not a lot of advancement in terms of roles without a drastic increase of administrative garbage and politicking. Not interested.

The house is good. Plenty of room. However we're finding we may need to need to replace the roof. No leaks, but its the original and the house is from 2004. So that's $10-12K down the pooper.

It does have a fairly large backyard as suburban plots go. It's on a steep hill. I gave it a few good initial mows but then found out that all my neighbors yards are cut by the local mower for $30 a mow. That's not a bad price so I typically get him to do it. He has one of those industrial standing mowers that does the job quick.

There IS a small bed for a garden but it was abandoned this year after my wife was clearing the weeds from it for a fresh planting and accidentally stepped on a baby rabbit killing it. Bad juju for the year. Maybe in the Spring we'll have another crack at it. But she was in shambles.

i had my roof done about 4 yrs ago. but it helps that i was a roofer for almost 10 yrs. i have family connections so i got the friends and family discount. I can't do it anymore becasue i fell off 1 too many roofs and screwed up my back. now i work with PC's and sit all day with no exercise and a bad back i had to hire it out, but it wasn't all that bad.

sorry to hear about your bunny ju-ju. you'll have to get a dog to keep them away so they won't be an issue next year.

My brother-in-law asked if i wanted to start playin DnD once a month.
i said sure. but he hasn't gotten back to me. i don't think he can find enough people to make it worth while. he has a regular game he plays, but this is a new one.

he's been in with the same group that i used to play with. they've been playing together for over 20 years now. they play every week. i don't know where they find the time.

As a happy aside to our roof ordeal, the noreaster that tore through here in late February did sufficient damage that our homeowners insurance agreed to replace the entire thing.

So that's a happy disaster!

2 weeks away from our vacation.

so much has happened since last i posted.

my grandmothers sister has passed.. she was the exttendended familys matriarck . nice irish funeral. my cousins got my 15 yr old drunk. and my grant aunt would has approved. hell she would have got him trashed then told him dirty jokes all night.

My fathers sister has passed... my aunt....
she liived in the family home.
now it seems odd to pass by the house that has always been owened by a family memeber... and i can't just walk in. there is something comforting knowing that you can just walk in to a house and that everone in there knows you.

i miss my aunt...
dammit i hate typing to you people when ive bee drinking.
but ive been doing it for so long its kinda cathartic.

Sorry to hear of your loss's Drain. It's a surreal experience to watch our lives and the web of relationships we cultivate change and melt away.

As for catharsis my ears are always open. :)

Sturgis has come and gone.
my bank account can testify to that.
10 bucks for a damn bag of ice. OUCH.
we had a great time, saw a lot of the county that I wouldn't normaly get to see

i actually do feel better at work,i din't know how burned out i was.
the little things arn't bothering me near as much any more.
but i was pissed off at at idiot on my first day back, so then i knew i was back to work.

now i have to look long term for a disney vacation for my Downs sysdrome child. he is strong enough now to enjoy it i think. 1 yr or 2... it takes a crapload of cash for that place.

How'd Disney go? I've taken that trip several times at this point. It is 100% a cash sink. But if you can keep it together the kids seem to have fun.

Post subject:  Re: Roll Call

Disney was great. it cost an arm and a leg but my son made some great memories.

I bought a new Motorcycle, my daughter bought one too, my middle son got a bike. and my youngest (now 16) still cant ride a bicycle. but he loves riding on the back of Dads big bike.

I found out in late 2018 that CANCER had gotten into my body. (hence the big Disney trip) so they had to take out my kidney before it spread. the other kidney has to do all the cleanup of the horrible stuff I take. which isn't fair but I told him to get over it, I ain't changin'.

I did take a supervisor job but it is a midnight position so no office politics to worry about, and as luck would have it the people I manage are all incredibly smart and talented. SHIT they know more about my job than I do. the only reason I got the job was that they didn't have enough working for the state to apply for it. I also think my old boss knew I needed time to go to doc appts with the whole cancer thing and working midnights makes that so much easier.
