How's everyone's real life going? Mine's chugging along pretty solidly!

Lots to do! Work work work! Never a dull moment.

I dunno...I mostly just posted this because I came on and saw no had written anything for over a week. :)

My baby is 1 tomorrow. I can't believe that! He;s so big and started walking about a week ago.

I'm not working at the moment. They wanted me to do four days after maternity leave, and I wanted to do 2. I was willing to meet in the middle and do 3 but they couldn't. So I'm hunting for a job. I've got an interview for executive officer (junior manager) at the Jobcentre on Monday after getting through the frist round assessments. So that's good. But I'm crapping myself about it!

We've bought a brand new house. 4 beds in a lovely location. Got a good deal for it, over 30% off what someone paid for the same house a few doors down in Dec.

My studies are going well - ish. I'm finding it hard to find the time to study and do everything else. I'm on a Summer School in September in Mallorca to play with - erm I mean, use and study - the telescopes at the Observatory there. That should be fun!

Um... can't think of anything else. I'd like to hear about what everyone else is up to,; it's been too long x

I guess I should expound on my previous post then...

...lets see. Well we moved out of our little apartment...and into her parents house. MISERY! Actually, not really. After six years on living on my own and starving and being broke, having a full paycheck to myself and piping hot homecooking put before you each night is actually damn nice. Plus Affie's brother (who still lives at home) is one of my best friends. So it works out alright.

The goal is to save money for a downpayment on a house. We're looking to buy something by December, so wish us luck!

Lets see...what else? Work is madness. Just madness. I can't even begin to describe it. It's just all day long, run run run run run. But...I keep solidly in mind the bouts of depression I was fighting a little over a year ago when I was at the resort, and it definitely helps keep it in perspective.

Anyway...that's more or less it. I'm just chugging along. Reading a LOT. Reading Ernest Hemingway's "A Farewell To Arms" and you know what? Not imrpessed. Honestly. I don't find his style refreshing or revolutionary (maybe it was at the time?) I just find it somewhat repetative and dull. His characters are....well....okay I guess. They're just....blah. Finished Cormac McCarthy's "All the Pretty Horses", which was one of his best I think. I enjoyed his latest novels more though. More action. But people claim that AtPH was his most "spritual" novel, which I can agree with.

But guns kick ass.

Ummm...what else? Uhhh...I think that's it for now. I'm watching the clock for when I can go home.

I broke my elbow.

Type I Monteggia Fracture.

Basically - proximal ulna smashed to smithereens coupled with dislocation of the radius.

I've had surgery to insert metal plates and pins to hold it all together.

I twisted my ankle and fell, I guess the elbow caught the impact.

This happened on the 19th August, I'm still in a lot of pain.

What sucks is that they forgot all about me and now I'm having to call them every 2 mins to find out wtf I'm sposed to do next. I'm sitting here, in plaster, with surgical stitches in and it needs dealing with.

That's "socialized healthcare" for you!

Kidding...kidding. That injury would have cost you $10K minimum in the states without insurance.

Hope you get better mate. :(
