Guy Fawkes apparently jumped off the gallows where he was to be drawn and quartered, effectively breaking his own neck and denying his captors the pleasure of torturing him (further). He may have been a prick, but that's still pretty bad ass.

Imagine what the world might've been like had he succeeded?

Hmmm...welll...tough to tell I suppose. I guess he was hoping for a Catholic England...but there's no guarantee that even had he blown up parliament it would somehow switch to Catholocism.
My guess would have to be the world would be more or less the same. Maybe it would've sparked more animosity between England and the Catholic Church.

Apparently if he had succeeded he still would have being caught and hung, drawn, gutted and chopped into tiny itty pieces. There were only 10% of catholics in the entire population and these would have being killed/murdered by the angry masses so everything would be pretty much the same as it is today.
Guess who just watched Richard hamond and the bonfire plot on tv :)

Ah, I see. lol
I don't think that the REAL Guy Fawkes was as altruistic and noble as the hero in V for Vendetta. And I don't think he had ninja stars.
