The final episode of the BBC and HBO's original series 'Rome' has aired tonight, a show I followed throughout it's entire run. It essentially (loosely) followed Roman history from Julius Ceasar's rise to power to the death of Antony and Cleopatra and Augustus Ceasar's subsequent rise, all through the eyes of both real life historical figures and fictionalized minor players as well.
The show was garishly executed, huge sets and casts. The storylines were rich and complex, full of the politicking we're all so fond of as well as moments of brash, unadultered violence. A true work of art. Okay, maybe not, but it was damned entertaining.
In any case, the show has concluded this evening, it's final episode and Gentle Reader, yours truly could not be more upset.
Rome, you will be missed.

Of course we've now had the first 2 episodes of Rome Series 2, with Ep 3 showing tonight.
Not quite as much swearing as Deadwood, I'm sure I've only heard 2 or 4 gratuitous "cunt" occurences, though "fuck" is used as punctuation.
Plenty of bare titties, though substantively less full frontal nudity than Series 1, I expect they are saving it for later.
Dead bodies - lost count at some point during episode 1.
