As an openly confessed stoner let me say the following on the subject.

If it is likely to affect your career down the line then don't smoke dope. Simple as that. It's not compulsory and just cos you are in an Amsterdam coffee shop, you aren't obliged to smoke, it's not big and it's not clever and nobody should have to prove anything.

I have a friend living in Amsterdam who is frequently distressed by the concept of his home city as Vice Central. There is so much more to that beautiful city than drugs 'n' whores.

So go over, have a great time and indulge in whatever you feel happy with, be it booze, drugs, women, or art and culture! Don't bow to peer pressure. Do what you wanna do.
